The Green Key
Wittrup Motel has received The Green Key
The Green Key is an eco label awarded to establishments within the tourism industry, taking extra care of environment and nature in their daily operation. It is an acknowledged and widespread Danish labelling scheme, which is now also available in several neighbouring countries.
The Green Key defines 78 different criteria in two different categories: mandatory with later completion.
All mandatory criteria must be fulfilled before an establishment can be awarded The Green Kay. The criteria in the second category must be fulfilled within a time period of three to twelve months after the awarding.
Examples of mandatory criteria:
- Lavatories, faucets and shower heads are designed to conserve water (some older lavetories do not meet our conservation requirements at the moment, but are being replaced in accorance wit our curent plan of environmental action).
- Only ecofriendly soap and detergents are used.
- All waste is sorted.
- Non-smoking rooms are available and our restaurant is a smoking free area.
Examples of mandatory criteria with later completion:
- Environmental policy, targets and action plans are established.
- A minimum of 5% of the food produce we use in the restaurant is organic.
